Only applying one of these suggestions will not make your shows perfect. Combining technical quality with a positive mindset is ideal.
To successfully broadcast you only really need a lot of lust and enthusiasm, but if you want to enhance your shows, below we have listed some technical considerations that can help you.
Computer
- You can use a PC or MAC, either desktop or laptop.
- For basic broadcasts you can use an i3 Intel Core processor, or similar, with an integrated video card and 4GB of RAM.
- For broadcasts with OBS and intermediate resolutions we recommend an i5 Intel Core processor, or similar, with an integrated video card and 4GB of RAM.
- For HD broadcasts and high resolutions with OBS we suggest the use of an i7 Intel Core processor, or similar, with an integrated or dedicated video card (optional) and between 8GB and 16GB of RAM memory.
Camera
Another important point is the webcam you use, it should be of good quality.
Get a good one that allows HD broadcasting and is high-end, preferably a webcam that offers 1080p, and even better if it has the possibility of 1080/60p.
The Logitech brand are the most widely used webcams for their great cost value ratio. We recommend the following listed below:
- Logitech C920 Webcam - 1080/30p
- Logitech Brio Webcam - 1080/60p
- Logitech C925e Webcam - 1080/30p
If you want to use an SLR camera you should verify that it has clean HDMI output and an uninterrupted broadcast option. The following brands are great options:
- All SONY A6100 models, A6400 and A5100
- Canon 250D
- Canon Rebel SL3
- Canon M200
- Panasonic GH5 and G7
- GoPro
Any camera with clean HDMI output can be used.
Mobile
If you broadcast from a mobile device such as a cell phone, make sure you have a good internet connection: The broadcast quality depends largely on the stability and speed of your connection. Locate a place with good data coverage or connect your cell phone to a wifi network, keep in mind that the fewer devices connected to the network the better.
Additionally, it is important to take into account these following tips to avoid incidents on your mobile broadcast:
- On Android (minimum version 4.4.2) it is recommended to use a standard browser such as Chrome, better if you have the latest version.
- On iPhone (minimum version 14.0) it is recommended to use the Safari browser with the latest version.
There are devices that are currently not compatible for broadcasting, here are some of them:
- ZTE Blade A5
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 10
- Huawei P30 Lite
Internet
The most important thing is to have the best internet connection possible, ideally with fiber optic cable.
Also, even if you have a great connection, if you use wifi most of it is wasted. We recommend having the computer connected with an ethernet cable and the closer to the router the better.
OBS
Setting up an external encoder will give you optimal performance. Try streaming using OBS and see the difference in the quality of your video.
Browser
There are a large number of browsers available to access the internet. However, we recommend streaming from Google Chrome whenever possible. However, here are some other browsers in case Chrome is not available:
Avoid using third party or standard cell phone browsers, as they may not have all the options available for our website to function completely.
Other recommendations
- Be sure to close all other applications. While you are video streaming, it is very important not to use your computer resources and internet connection for other things.
- Close all other applications and browsers. Avoid downloading files or using the internet meanwhile.
- Close all other browser tabs.
- Do not have plugins installed in the browser that can alter the operation of the website, such as download accelerators.
- Pay special attention to your lighting so that everyone can appreciate you better.
- Moderate the volume in your broadcast, for example: when you play music, ensure that you can be heard by users seamlessly.
